Dream Cars - Porsche Cayman GT4 Edition

I wrote recently about dream cars and would like to backtrack slightly.

I know I said that any car can be a dream car, but there are a few cars out now that I would immediately purchase if money were no option.

From my previous story, you know that I had a Porsche from the age of 17 to about 21.  It was an amazing car and I often miss it.  Porsches hold a sweet place in my heart and will always be number one on the list of dream cars to own.  They are reliable, fast, comfortable sports cars that average drivers like myself will never reach the limits of.

Two Porsches leap to the front of my mind as dream cars: 911 GT3 and the new Cayman GT4.

The GT3 is the ultimate road-going race car.  Its tuned suspension and 3.8 liter engine screaming 475 HP make it an absolute monster.  The perfect track car that can be comfortably driven to the grocery store (taking the scenic route).

When I was younger, I would have taken the car in yellow, but as I get older, I prefer my motorcycles and cars in black more and more.

There are some fantastic ways to configure this car and I highly recommend taking 15 minutes out of your afternoon to dream about your perfect GT3 here.

While the GT3 is the ultimate in track and road performance from Porsche, the $131, 000 starting price puts in in absoulte dream land.  Also, the chassis of the 911,
with the engine out back, is quickly being matched by its yonger, mid-engined brother.

The Cayman has been called the best chassis on the road of about any car available.  The mid-engined beast makes about 241 HP in the most basic trim.  But, this year Porsche is launching a brand-new Cayman GT4.  Built for gearheads and Porschephiles, it will make a spleen-bursting 385 HP at the minimum with suspension and brakes from the GT3 and a manual transmission.

The GT4 will be an incredible vehicle and with a base price of about $85k, it puts it into the world of possibly owning one someday (after a long, long time saving up).  Even after some very important options, the price still barely cracks $100k.

Porsche says the car will be made in limited quantities so the collectibility will remain strong on these cars.

Few cars genuinely make me want to go all "Gone in 60 Seconds" at a car dealership, but this is number one on that list.

The GT4 is my perfect goal car.  Something to chase for the foreseeable future.  Something keeping me from spending every last penny I have now, so I might have enough pennies later.

I know it's not realistic and will more than likely never happen, but that's why it's a dream car.
